In the millAutomill module
Feed-mill stock management
A stock position that is current because the plant updates it: intake, batching, packing and dispatch, as they happen.
In the mill
Update the raw-material and finished-goods stock position as material moves, decreasing at the source and increasing at the destination.
Operator experience
Every movement says which event created it.
Users should understand why a movement exists and which operational event created it.
Where it goes wrong
Counted monthly, stock is history.
Stock counted monthly is history, not information. The mill moves material every hour, and the record either moves with it or falls behind.
On the floor
Take the movement, move the balance, keep the position live.
- Receive a stock movement from another module, like the weighbridge for material received or batching for material used
- Decrease stock at the source location and increase it at the destination
- Keep the live position visible to support production decisions and stock-taking
